Comfortable Accommodation in a stunning location…

Bay Window with Loch View

Bay Window with Loch View

Camus House takes its name from the Gaelic meaning “on the bay”. The house was built in 1892 on an elevated site on the edge of Onich Bay. The panoramic views from the front of the house, and enjoyed from most of the bedrooms, are far reaching over Loch Linnhe and extend as far as the mountains on the Isle of Mull to the Southwest and to the mountains of Glencoe to the Southeast. The gardens are planted with a wide variety of shrubs and hold colour and interest throughout the year although they are most colourful in May / June when the Azaleas are in flower.

Our large reception hall has antique pine panelling and an impressive stairway, with comfortable sofas and a welcoming atmosphere. It is a cosy place to meet, plan excursions and relax and, in the colder months, is warmed by a log burning stove.

In the evenings the conservatory is one of the best places to experience the beautiful sunsets over the breath-taking scenery of the Morvern Mountains and towards the Isle of Mull.

The comfortable bedrooms have en-suite facilities and are individually decorated and furnished to blend in with the ambience of this fine old building.

Hospitality trays are provided and every room is equipped with flat screen freeview colour television.

We have three double rooms with en-suite shower, basin and wc. These rooms have views to the front of the house directly overlooking Onich Bay.

Our twin room and family room both have views from the side of the house over the garden towards the mountains of the Ardnamurchan peninsula. The family room is equipped with a King Size bed and two permanent single beds and has an en-suite bath with shower over, basin and WC.

To get your day off to a good start we offer a choice of either a continental or a hearty full grilled breakfast. We appreciate the importance of a good breakfast and we are confident that our selection will be enough to set you up for the day. As well as standard items such as cereal, fruit juice, fruit and yoghurt we offer you the choice of any or all of the following: Bacon, sausage, award winning black pudding, haggis, tomato, mushroom, baked beans with scrambled, poached or fried eggs. Our scrambled eggs with smoked salmon is a particular favourite.

We serve breakfast between 8.00 and 9.00 am. With prior notice we are happy to prepare packed breakfasts for guests who have to leave early.

We do not cater for evening meals but we are fortunate to have a number of very good restaurants catering for all tastes within easy reach. Seafood is a speciality of the region. Each of our bedrooms has a folder showing sample menus for all the local restaurants to help you choose the most suitable to meet your requirements.

In trying to provide a quiet and peaceful environment we ask guests who come in late and leave early to respect the comfort of others and do so quietly.
